Today's #marchmeetthemaker is about how I learned. I grew up surrounded by creative family members. My German grandmother had her own kiln for her pottery, she created award winning window displays for her bookstore, and crafted everything from greeting cards to party decor. My American grandmother and my Aunt were/are amazingly detailed and patient with their needlepoint creations. My Mom can create a beautiful doll from thrifted clothes and antique buttons, and she can improvise better than anyone I know in her creations from cakes to gifts. My Stepmom is a quilter who makes beautiful and thoughtful creations, and seeks out new techniques to master. That's my foundation, and from there I explored through painting, photography, sewing, and more. When I want to try something new I research, and overthink, and sketch, and read, and then I dive in. ️
